Auditions and Competitions

The obvious idea here is to gain an advantage over others, or at least match their recording quality. You want every advantage to sound good. You don't want to be rejected because someone else "sounded" a little better.

Many organizations will say you don't have to use a recording studio or professional - just use a home-grown method. Well, that doesn't make you sound any better! The kids that do use professional help are the ones that win!

Find out what specific format and program they want. Often they want 2 or 3 pieces in differing styles (Bach, Beethoven, Satie). Don't disadvantage yourself with a poor recording!
